Biography
As a fellowship-trained otolaryngologist who subspecializes in rhinology, I treat conditions that affect the nose and sinuses. I am passionate about helping people find relief from their symptoms using both medical therapies and the most advanced, minimally invasive surgical techniques available.
I enjoy getting to know patients from all walks of life and strive to meet patients where they are. I am deeply committed to ensuring that patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options. I believe that patients should feel empowered to make informed decisions about their health.
In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am a health policy researcher focused on promoting the safe and effective use of medical devices. My work has been published in The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and Nature Biotechnology, and featured in outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, CBS News, and Forbes.
My faculty position affords me the opportunity to work with our fantastic residents and medical students. Mentoring the next generation of surgeons and scholars is an especially rewarding part of my career.
I’m thrilled to practice at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center alongside respected experts in world-class facilities. Our staff is incredibly friendly and shares a deep commitment to providing the best care possible for our patients.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends and cheering on my beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

Excellent bedside manner, very informative with excellent information
Dr Rathi is one of the best doctors I've had. He is very knowledgeable, thorough, takes his time and explains everything so I can understand it. He has been reassuring and kind.
He very polite and caring.
I am from Louisiana and plan to move within the next 3 months, but I plan to return to OSU because I have a great team of docutors.
He is professional, caring and concerned about my health
Best sinus Dr ever. I suffered for years with not being able to breathe. The doctor was very knowledgeable and thorough in his explanation of what was going to happen. Answered all my questions. Didn't feel rushed. Did an excellent job despite the challenges my sinuses presented in surgery. Very personable for a doctor. Totally trustworthy.
Very kind and knowledgeable
Dr. Rathi was amazing, and as a trauma laden individual, I do not say that lightly. He was incredibly respectful of my hesitation regarding the appointment as I was referred r/t the results of an MRI. He took the time to actually show me my imaging, and to explain what made it abnormal, which helped me relate to my body more. And I cannot express how cool (yes I'm a nerd who was in the medical field, it was beyond cool) to see the inside of my own nasal passages via the camera he was using. Also perfect infection control. 10/10. Would recommend. <3Also, please ensure that the double booking issue is addressed so Dr. Rathi doesn't have to skip his lunches. If you want your staff to continue providing outstanding care they need to first be able to take care of themselves, not just their patients. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to hear that conversation since it happened between staff members outside my room... He was too kind to me for me to -not- advocate for him in the same way. Not throwing anyone under the bus with that either... Like... Mistakes happen and what not. But mistakes reveal something within the system that could be improved. I trust you guys to handle this a growth opportunity and not penalize anyone for being human. <3
Attentive and knowledgeable about my care.
My provider was knowledgeable, professional, and had an expressed need/want to get to the root of the problem. That is the most appreciable aspect of my experience.
He was excellent.
I would recommend Dr. Vinay Rathi. He listened to me and answered all my questions. Dr. Vinay Rathi explained my questions in the way that I could understand what Dr. Vinay Rathi was saying. He was friendly and concerned why I visited him.
It was the wrong provider.
Consummate professional, skilled, courteous, and caring
