About Me

I am an infectious diseases physician who uses a comprehensive, compassionate and patient-centered approach with all of my patients. Although I treat all infectious diseases, I have a particular interest in managing and preventing infections in patients with HIV and those receiving cancer therapy.

With effective and tolerable antiretroviral therapy regimens, HIV has transformed into a chronic medical condition. Non-infectious co-morbidities, such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic diseases and cancers, are on the rise in people with HIV. I strive to help patients achieve their most optimal quality of health by assessing for barriers to care, counseling on adherence, ensuring treatment is effective and advising on preventative strategies for the development of co-morbidities.

Although treatment for patients with HIV has been transformative over the past 30 years, one in seven people with HIV still do not know they are infected and are not on antiretroviral therapy. These patients are at risk for opportunistic infections and AIDS-defining cancers. In both populations, I specialize in treating opportunistic infections, managing antiretroviral therapy and preventing any infections while patients undergo chemotherapy.

My favorite part about this job is watching my patients reclaim their health after overcoming their acute infectious diseases. Working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides me the opportunity to advocate for my patients and make a difference in their lives. Every day, I am in awe of the amazing spirit of the people I work with. We are dedicated to advancing research endeavors and scientific discovery, and are passionate about providing the best team-based care to help patients achieve the best possible quality of life.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
