We at The Ohio State University Department of Neurology are excited to train the next generation of leaders, researchers, innovators and expert clinicians that will advance the field of Neurology. Our goal is to help residents develop the highest level of clinical and diagnostic skills, gain exposure to academic research, engage in teaching, foster enthusiasm and passion and model compassionate patient care, all while maintaining resident work-life balance.

Our program has a full complement of faculty in the broad range of subspecialties, including nationally recognized leaders. Faculty are represented in cerebrovascular disease, cognitive, epilepsy, headache, health services research, movement disorders, neurocritical care, neurogenetics, neurohospitalist, neuro-immunology, neuromuscular, neuro-oncology, neuro-otology, neuropsychology, neuropalliative care, sleep, spinal cord injury, sport concussion, and teleneurology, as well as a strong representation of neuroscientists. Both the faculty and our residents are highly engaged in teaching and have received numerous teaching awards.

We take special pride in our wide selection of multidisciplinary clinics that were built to provide comprehensive care for patients with specific neurologic needs. There are currently 30+ multidisciplinary clinic offerings supported by the department that residents are able to attend during their outpatient/elective blocks. These clinics can include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nutritionists, pharmacists, neuropsychologists, genetic counselors, social workers, and respiratory therapists. Examples of clinics include the Epilepsy Pregnancy Clinic, Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Event Clinic, Quality of Life Multiple Sclerosis Clinic, Myasthenia Gravis Clinic, Neuro-Rheumatology Clinic, Young Onset Dementia Clinic, Movement Disorders Neuromodulation Clinic – and many more.

Our goal is to create the best educational experience possible while training well-rounded, clinically excellent neurologists. We aim to help our trainees develop and realize their career goals, including identifying fellowship opportunities, cultivating their academic careers, and/or transitioning to successful clinical practice. Our graduates have moved on to fellowships with a wide range of opportunities not only here at The Ohio State University, but also at programs such as Yale, Harvard, UCLA, University of Michigan, Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt, and the Cleveland Clinic, among others. We are very proud of our residents, their accomplishments, and the successful careers that they are launching. We enjoy continuing to collaborate with them after they graduate as they make an impact on the field of neurology.
