About Me
As a physician, I'm board certified in four specialties: emergency, internal, pulmonary and critical care medicine. I'm the medical director of the emergency department on The Ohio State University's main campus.
On the academic side, I hold a few roles within The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center as an assistant professor of emergency medicine and critical care as well as co-creator and associate program director for the Emergency Medicine & Internal Medicine Residency Program. I focus my academic efforts on patient safety, quality improvement, critical care and ultrasound in the emergency department.
Outside of teaching emergency medicine, I have a joint appointment with the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine where I divide my clinical time 75% in the emergency department and 25% in the Medical Intensive Care Unit.
I completed my medical degree at West Virginia University in 2002. After that, I completed a five-year residency program for both emergency medicine and internal medicine at Christiana Care Health Services in Delaware in 2007, where I served as chief resident in my final year of training. I then completed a three-year fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in 2010 having served as chief fellow. In 2010, I decided I hadn't had enough learning and completed a master's degree in medical science at Ohio State.
