If you have an urgent medication matters after-hours that can’t wait until the next business day, please call 614-293-8000 and ask to have the on-call specialty pharmacist paged.

The Ohio State University Outpatient Pharmacy’s Specialty Pharmacy offers comprehensive services to patients receiving specialty medications. Our Patient Management Program will help you manage your pharmacy needs through personalized disease-state and specialty-drug management.

Services our specialty pharmacists provide

Our pharmacists work to improve your quality-of-life while on a specialty therapy. We are experts on specialty medications, including self administered injectables.

  • Assessment: We review laboratory results, relevant medical and medication history to help ensure good outcomes.
  • One-on-one counseling: We address any questions or concerns you may have about your medication at any time.
  • Side effect management: We’ll work with you and your provider to make sure that side effects are identified and managed appropriately.
  • Collaborate with providers: We work with your provider team to coordinate medication refills.
  • Refill reminders: We’ll stay in close contact with you during your treatment to refill your prescriptions approximately one week before you run out of medication.
  • 24/7 support: We offer access to clinically-trained personnel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays and weekends.

Billing and payment services

  • Insurance coordination: Our insurance experts assist many provider teams with your insurance preauthorization for faster access to your medication.
  • Contracted insurance: We contract are with most insurance plans and government programs, including Medicare, Ohio Medicaid, Aetna, Express Scripts and many more.
  • Medication assistance programs: Our medication assistance team can help find programs that may lower the cost of your therapy.
  • Credit card payment: Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express credit cards are accepted.

Pick-up and delivery services

  • Local pickup: Three walk-up locations are available for your convenience pre- or post-appointment:
    • University Hospital
    • OSUCCC – James
    • East Hospital
  • Drive-through: There’s no need to pay for parking or even leave your car with our drive-through pick-up location just north of Ohio State’s main campus at 600 E. Ackerman Rd.
  • Free delivery: We offer free, convenient delivery of your specialty medications to your home or workplace.
