Experience and Interests
Rick is a physical therapist and rehab services team lead with a variety of experience in all aspects of acute care as well as pediatric experience obtained at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. His clinical interests and focus have been in cardiopulmonary physical therapy, although he has experience treating all aspects of acute rehab in our Level 1 Trauma Center and at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. His interest in advancing to the position of team lead stemmed from being the cardiopulmonary focus lead and the increased exposure and involvement in interdisciplinary team-focused care. This exposure has grown to include participation throughout the University Hospitals network.
He is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), with memberships in the Acute Care Section, the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section and the Section on Health Policy and Administration. Rick is co-chair for the Diversity Council Employee Resource Groups. He is an APTA-certified clinical instructor and has worked with the College of Medicine’s student organization PODEMOS, an inter-professional organization comprising medical, nursing, dental and pharmacy students with opportunities to include students of physical therapy in the future.
