Experience and Interests
Laura’s clinical interests include evaluating and treating patients with cognitive-linguistic impairments, aphasia (language impairments) and dysphagia (swallowing impairments) secondary to acquired neurologic disorders, including stroke and traumatic brain injury, in the acute care setting. She is qualified to perform Modified Barium Swallow Studies and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) studies to objectively assess swallow function and determine an appropriate care plan to help patients return to eating and drinking safely.
She is looking to grow her expertise in evidence-based practice for aphasia treatment and implementing Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) devices in the acute care setting.
