Experience and Interests
Dr. Melissa Boals is a neurological clinical specialist who has been a part of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center rehabilitation team since 2012. She received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology in 2006 and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2009. Her primary area of practice is on the vestibular team, but also has focused experience with outpatient spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and burn patients. She has practiced PT with the Outpatient Burn Clinic Team since 2014. Melissa’s experience in acute care and inpatient rehab settings enables her to have a well-versed perspective throughout her client’s continuum of care. She serves as a mentor for Ohio State’s Neurologic Physical Therapy Residency Program and participates as a guest lecturer for Ohio University’s Doctorate PT program. She has specialty training in FES-powered systems, NRN Locomotor Training, Bioness, Walkaide, Safegait, NeuroCom® inVision, and VisualEyes VNG. She proudly participates in the following professional organizations: American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)- Neurological Section, Ohio Physical Therapy Association (OPTA), American Burn Association (ABA).
