Patient-Centered Advocacy and Medicine (PCAM) was created within Primary Care to serve adult patients with substance use concerns, designed to be accessible and integrated with ongoing medical care. We help patients find individualized strategies to live healthier lives by addressing their substance use and other health issues that a primary care office would handle. We offer multidisciplinary medical and psychological care in alignment with patients’ personal health goals.

PCAM offers the following services:

  • Evaluation and management of general medical issues, including substance use disorders
  • Individual counseling
  • Medications to reduce cravings – including long-acting injectable formulations administered in clinic
  • Transitional care services after hospitalization for patients with substance use concerns to quickly link them with primary care
  • Education on harm reduction strategies
  • STI testing and treatment
  • Routine vaccinations and other preventative health measures
    • STI testing/treatment
    • Blood pressure screening
    • Diabetes screening
  • Smoking cessation assistance
  • Referral to higher levels of care as needed

Things to know:

  • We practice a team-based model with physicians, residents, RNs, students, pharmacists, and counselors. You may work with multiple team members and learners at your appointment.
  • We accept internal and external self-referrals. You do not have to be linked with OSU Primary Care to been seen in PCAM. Appointments for PCAM can be scheduled by calling 614-293-3552. PCAM is not accepting online scheduling at this time.
