Driving High-Impact Innovation
Ohio State Sports Medicine was the first in the United States to implant a plastic device designed to help patients with persistent knee pain due to an injured or deteriorating meniscus, and the first in Ohio to use a tissue implant made from a patient’s own cells to treat knee cartilage damage. It was also responsible for the creation of a new surgical technique that makes Achilles tendon repairs stronger and more reliable. Our researchers use full-body motion analysis to examine neuromuscular training and interventions for improving movement and lifestyle for people with a high risk of injury.
