Learn what steps iPhone users may need to take to continue receiving text messages and calls from us.

Action may be needed for iPhone users with “Screen Unknown Senders” turned on: If you’re using Apple’s latest software update, iOS 26, you may not be seeing time-sensitive communications from your health care providers at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Phone calls and text messages from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center may be filtered out and sent to your Unknown Callers, Unknown Senders or Spam folder.

Save our numbers in your contacts to make sure you get text messages and phone calls from your providers. Those using iOS 26, please take these steps as soon as possible to continue to receive text messages and phone calls from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Those using a previous operating system version on their iPhone, iOS 18 or earlier, may also want to add us to your contacts list to make sure you will not experience an interruption in important messages from your care team. The “Screen Unknown Senders” feature in iOS 26 was previously called “Filter Unknown Senders” in the iOS 18 software update.

  2. Review your Unknown Senders and Unknown Callers
     Review text messages filtered as “Unknown Senders”, and phone calls filtered as “Unknown Callers.” If a number is listed that you would want to receive text messages or phone calls from in the future you can:
    • Select “Mark as Known” for that message
    • Add the number to your contacts
