Biography

As a board-certified internal medicine physician, I currently specialize in diagnosing and caring for patients with long COVID. I am the lead physician of the Post-COVID Recovery Program at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where we offer customized assessments and treatments for adults. I also serve as principal investigator of a clinical trial to study the use of the drug amantadine to treat cognitive symptoms related to long COVID.

In addition to long COVID, my clinical interests include general primary care, especially for patients diagnosed with sickle cell disease. I am also passionate about preventive health, mindfulness-based pain management, and helping patients successfully manage chronic diseases.

My responsibilities also include helping to educate future providers. I am an associate clinical professor of Internal Medicine in The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and I teach students and residents during clinic and during rounds on inpatient units.

Academics and research

Combining a unique approach to problem-solving with more than 20 years of experience as an Internal Medicine physician, I am employing a whole-person approach to healthcare in order to address the health challenges faced by Adults with Chronic Healthcare Needs (ACHNs).

I have a longstanding interest in the needs of underserved populations and in making health care more accessible to all. My research interests center on developing new strategies for health care delivery to complex patients. From 2012 to 2016, I led the OSUMC Healthy at Home program, which provided home-based primary care to persons with chronic illness and disability. At present, I am collaborating with The James Cancer Center on a trial of home-based primary care for patients with sickle cell disease.
