Biography
My journey in the field of psychology has been driven by a profound desire to understand and improve the mental well-being of individuals, particularly older adults.
My educational background includes rigorous training and qualifications in both neuropsychology and geropsychology. This dual specialization equips me with a comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay between cognitive function and emotional health in the aging population.
In my practice, I take a holistic and compassionate approach to help individuals navigate the cognitive challenges that can arise with aging. Whether it's conducting detailed neuropsychological assessments to pinpoint cognitive strengths and areas needing support or offering therapeutic interventions to enhance emotional resilience, I am dedicated to promoting the overall mental health of older adults.
Beyond my clinical work, I actively contribute to the advancement of these fields through ongoing research endeavors. My commitment to staying at the forefront of psychological research ensures that I can provide the best possible care and insights to my patients and the broader community.

- decision making
- and civil capacities

- Neurocognitive and neuropsychiatric sequelae of neurodegenerative disease
- Neurocognitive and neuropsychiatric sequelae of cancer and rare blood disorders
I am strongly interested in conducting research with direct and systematic applications aimed at enhancing the well‑being of the patients under my care. My research primarily centers on the exploration of higher‑order cognitive abilities, specifically focusing on decision‑making and testamentary capacities among older adults, while actively seeking ways to improve these processes within the context of cognitive decline.
Drawing from my extensive clinical experiences, I actively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, delving into the neurocognitive consequences of medical conditions, including movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, delirium, cancer, and human immunodeficiency viruses.
I am deeply committed to addressing health disparities within underprivileged and underserved populations, which has driven my participation in cross‑cultural neuropsychology research endeavors. My contributions to the field of neuropsychology revolve around four core themes: real‑world decision‑making in older adults, executive functioning, instrumental activities of daily living, and testamentary capacity; neurocognitive alterations linked to medical conditions; and cross‑cultural neuropsychology.
Overall, my work is dedicated to advancing the understanding and enhancement of cognitive health and decision‑making abilities in older adults.

Consulting and related relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/3/2025, Christopher Nguyen has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
