Mehta elected to American College of Cardiology’s Board of Trustees
Laxmi Mehta, MD, director of Preventative Cardiology and Women’s Cardiovascular Health at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, has been elected to serve on the American College of Cardiology Board of Trustees for a four-year term beginning in 2027. Mehta was one of two newly elected trustees. She is also a professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Sarah Ross Soter Endowed Chair for Women’s Cardiovascular Health Research.
Ohio State hospitals receive 3 national honors for stroke care
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s University Hospital and
East Hospital received three national honors from the American Heart Association/American stroke Association. For the second year in a row, they received both the “Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Gold Plus Award” and the “Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll” as well as a “Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite” award. The medical center was recently recertified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, the highest level of stroke certification.
Kern receives Gable Award from Patient Access Collaborative

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, received the Patient Access Collaborative 2026 Gable Award. The award honors a member of the collaborative whose leadership and commitment to peer learning have strengthened the patient access profession.
Boudoulas appointed to American Board of Internal Medicine’s Approval Committee
Konstantinos Boudoulas, MD, interventional cardiologist, professor of medicine and director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, has been appointed to the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Approval Committee. The committee is responsible for approving the content areas and questions on all ABIM assessments and plays a critical role in defining their respective disciplines.
Ohio State ranked first in American Heart Association funding in the state
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center ranks first in Ohio and third nationally in American Heart Association (AHA) active research funding. Ohio State has $19.1 million in active AHA funding across 47 research projects, representing the majority of Ohio’s $39.1 million total investment. Ohio State’s funding supports investigators working to advance new treatments, improve patient care and better understand heart and stroke conditions.
