About Me
I am an orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship-trained and certified in sports medicine. I specialize in sports-related injuries. More specifically, my practice is primarily focused on the lower extremity injuries and knee injuries (anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, reconstructions and revisions, meniscal injuries, repair and transplantation, multi-ligament injuries, cartilage injuries and restorative procedures, patella instability corrective surgeries, and ligament and tendon tears).
Dealing with knee and sports-related injuries can range from simple to complex. I believe in involving patients with their care, exploring all options to improve their health and returning them to the best condition possible.
I love my job because The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has allowed me to blend my passion for clinical care, research and education all together. Because of this, I believe patients are receiving the best, most up-to-date care in the United States.

Provider was a great listener and provided helpful information
All was good
Everything about my experience with the entire staff has made me think of them as professionals. They are the pro's at what they do, and they do it best. Excellent facilities and staff!
Knew my schedule, knew what I was looking for at the appointment, respected my time
Dr. Flanagan had a wonderful bedside manner, was friendly, easy to talk to and respectful.
Great very attentive
This doctor performed my knee surgery 5 months ago, and he has always been kind to me as well. Often his office runs far behind schedule, but this time (at 7:30am) they were still on time.
He is one of my favorite providers!
Very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything and view images before the visit.
I appreciated the hx of the surgery, his explanation (very in depth) appreciated explanation of meds used pre-post surgery. Definitely appreciated seeing my MRI films and the clear explanation of them & showing me where/why my meniscus was detached.
Attentive, knowledgeable, communicator
I was offered potential solutions to help my medical condition.
Listened well and responded to all wuestions
So knowledgeable and easy going love talking to Dr Flanigan
Dr. Flanigan is a very knowledgeable and skilled orthopedic surgeon. He has a great bedside manner and I would recommend him to anyone needing orthopedic surgery
He didn't explain much, made me wait around for 2 hours just to barely look at my knee and say I didn't need surgery. I had to press for more info on care like what about physical therapy or a knee brace. He didn't seem to care at all.
Great assistance!
Always great when they walk in and know your history and you know they have read your entire chart.
Dr. Flanigan was engage. He was extremely pleasant and took time to explain everything on my level.
Seemed very thorough. Explained results of MRI/X-ray clearly.
He was amazing I was scared because I have never been injured like this and he explained everything, listened. To me and told me not to worry we would fix it. It made me feel like he cared.
He was extremely easy to talk to and I felt he listened to my concerns
Listened very well to the issue I am having and recommend an MRI, which is what I was hoping to do.
Helped describe the next steps in an easy to understand way.
Dr Flannigan performed my surgery 7 years ago on my left knee and when I started to have troubles with my right knee he was my first call. He is professional, courteous, affable and treats my needs and concerns with the utmost respect and care.
Dr. Flanigan was friendly, professional and actually listened to me and answered all of my questions. I feel fortunate I have him as a care provider, and his team has always been great.
Everyone appears to care about your well-being!
Good experience
He's awesome, kind, knowledgeable, patient professional. I would highly recommend Dr. Flanigan!
Dr. Flanigan was very conversational and showed concern for my knee treatment. He spent time to explain the various treatments and answer questions.
Dr. Flanigan is super knowledgeable and great at explaining things
Treated very well
Good gentlemen that were very articulate in describing things to me. They listened to what I had to say and explained things well.
Dr. Flanigan is the kindest, most caring dr. I've ever had. Which is just icing on the cake because he's also technically amazing. I'm thankful I was referred to him.
