About Me

I am an orthopaedic surgeon, fellowship-trained and certified in sports medicine. I specialize in sports-related injuries. More specifically, my practice is primarily focused on the lower extremity injuries and knee injuries (anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, reconstructions and revisions, meniscal injuries, repair and transplantation, multi-ligament injuries, cartilage injuries and restorative procedures, patella instability corrective surgeries, and ligament and tendon tears).

Dealing with knee and sports-related injuries can range from simple to complex. I believe in involving patients with their care, exploring all options to improve their health and returning them to the best condition possible.

I love my job because The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has allowed me to blend my passion for clinical care, research and education all together. Because of this, I believe patients are receiving the best, most up-to-date care in the United States.

The physicians articulately explained my injury, available treatments, and risks. They listened to my concerns and I did not feel rushed.

The care provider was very kind and straight-forward w/me, which I really appreciate. He didn't try to sugarcoat the news, and explained my situation in a way I could understand completely.

There was a little unwillingness to explain everything at the level of detail that I like, but that's not unusual for doctors. I always want all the gory details, good and bad, without any sugar coating. :)

good: dr ordered tests and and pt. I'm confident he'll address my problem in the end.Bad: dr had ordered an on-site xray of my knee rather than shin. I had to wait for that to be changed.

Dr. Flanigan actually touched my problem knee, maneuvered it and gave me feedback. The surgeon I was to see for knee replacement surgery never once touched me, only looked at x-rays and shared MRI report.
