About Me
Ophthalmology is one of the most rewarding specialties in the field of medicine. By restoring our patients’ eyesight, we are uniquely positioned to preserve livelihood, restore independence, and foster quality of life that would have otherwise been lost. In the field of retina in particular, the scope of practice is immense. I'm continuously learning from my patients and am excited to come to work every morning.
Having myself been a patient once, I pride myself on being an empathic physician. I realize it can be scary to navigate through a maze of decisions and choices, especially when the stakes – your vision - are so high. I do my absolute best with each patient to make sure they can make informed decisions about their own eyes, and I don’t leave the room until the last question is answered. The decisions I make each day about my patients are the same ones I would make if I were treating my own family.
In teaching medical students, residents, and fellows through the years, I have realized how rewarding academia can be. I find that in an academic environment physicians often continue to innovate, both clinically and academically, regardless of how long they have practiced in the same field.
At the Ohio State Havener Eye Institute, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of cutting-edge research. Currently, I'm a co-investigator in a number of different retina clinical trials, both phase II and III. I know that the medications and procedures studied in these trials are going to one day make a positive impact on the lives of our patients.
In my free time, I like to read, go ballroom dancing, hike, and travel to new places. Most of all, I enjoy playing with my nine month old and trying to see the world through his eyes.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/29/2023, Dr. Livshitz has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
I have always been treated very well
The very best!!! She is very thorough, explains everything so I understand. Very kind and gentle. I wish she was my Doctor for everything.
The doctor took the time to ask me about my life and family also I was referred to her office by Dr. Weed and she knew him very well and we talked about how kind and smart a person he is
Love her attitude and care. She is very special.
It was a good, professional visit.
Excellent
Excellent. Dr Livshitz is kind and very professional. Feel very comfortable with her knowledge of my eye problems we love her
Limited time with me. Seemed very rushed
Fantastic doctor!
Very knowledgeable.
All good. The doctor was attentive, listened and explained things very well.
Good
Dr. Livshitz is always very courteous and caring.
She answered all my questions.
She was very aloof. She also volunteered very little information about her findings; I had to ask her specific questions in order to get any information at all. I recently moved to central Ohio and was just transferring doctors, so fortunately, I already knew something about my condition and knew what to ask. I left the visit questioning whether she's the doctor for me; I may keep looking for someone else.
Dr. Livshitz is outstanding. I am in very good hands!
My provider is the best. I love her and I hope I always have her as my provider!
Took the time to explain in detail and also to answer all my questions.
Dr. Livshitz injects my L eye every 5-6 weeks for wet macular degen. She provides safe consistent care and always is happy and welcoming of questions. When necessary I greatly respect her as my provider and is one of the best who has provided my health care. I evaluate hospitals & providers as my profession and would rate her and her team a 99+++ on each visit I have had over the last 20 months. Thank you!!
Awesome. She explained very well what was going on, the progress so fast and what I had to do.

Very understanding and kind.
The doctor was awesome! She was very thorough in explaining my situation and what was needed to treat my medical need.
Dr. Livshitz is a fine - young doctor, she takes her time, always gives you the best service she can in spite of her being moved to a closet area where everything was piled up, not allowing her to move around the treatment room easy - comfortably.

Was very impressed and very satisfied over the whole experience. I was sent to OSU by another dr. and the caring and calm Dr. Livshitz changed the mess I was coming to her for. If I ever needed to come back I would not be anxious!
Made me feel very comfortable and reassured that my problem was going to be resolved.
Dr. Irina Livshitz is the BEST Doctor in my book. I am sure she always review/ Image the past/present conditions of my eyes before she sees me. She is very compassionate doctor anyone should be lucky to have as care provider.
