Biography

As a psychologist with the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, I specialize in treating adult patients with chronic health conditions and disabilities. I commonly work with patients experiencing chronic pain, patients who have been diagnosed with cancer and people who have sustained spinal cord or other serious injuries. I also serve as the rehabilitation psychology lead for the interdisciplinary Post-COVID Recovery Program.

My approach to psychotherapy treatment includes a focus on acceptance and commitment therapy. I am passionate about assisting patients in coping and adapting to changes resulting from chronic health conditions or a disability. I strive every day to support patients and help them lead engaged, meaningful and fulfilling lives.

My clinical areas of focus also include multiculturalism and intersectionality within the therapy process. I am committing to addressing ableism, reducing health care disparities within the health care system and to working within multidisciplinary teams to support whole-health initiatives that benefit our patients.

In addition to my clinical and scholarly responsibilities, my role includes helping to educate the next generation of providers. I am a clinical assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring new places, playing board games and being with friends and family.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Schultz has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
