About Me
As a family medicine physician, I provide a comprehensive, holistic approach to health care for the entire family. I believe a strong physician-patient relationship founded on compassion is central to providing the highest quality care. I encourage my patients to ask questions and participate in developing their individualized treatment plans. I treat a wide range of conditions, but am especially interested in cardiology, diabetes, gynecologic care, hypertension, preventative medicine and women's health.
I enjoy working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center because of the opportunity to serve my community in the dual role of physician and educator. At Ohio State, we enjoy access to a vast network of resources and educational opportunities to ensure our patients receive quality care for generations to come.
When I'm not working, I enjoy playing tennis, traveling and spending time with my family. My husband and I have two young boys who are active in the community. Most of the time our activities revolve around our kids.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 11/01/2020, Dr. Shanker has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Very professional & very friendly.
Dr. Shankar is the best primary provider I have ever had. She really listens, demonstrates empathy, and it's easy to tell how much she cares about her patients. I'm so fortunate to have a caring and intelligent doctor like her during a pandemic that I can consult with.
Care provider was friendly and attentive, but wait time was rather long (>15 mins).
very good
She is very nice and caring.
Dr Shankar is always pleasant and addresses all questions. She explains tests and treatments.
It was a first visit and I could tell my chart had not been looked at until we were in-person. There was no consultative aspect to the visit, and as my issues are mental health, dictating my prescriptions w/o asking me why/how I got on them to begin with, how long I've been on or even mentioning all of them (only Adderall was discussed) made me leery. I a void meds for 12 years, finally got on them, and have had the most stable 2 years of my life.
good
always very professional and caring
After an exam Dr. Shanker discussed w/me the tests. She would recommend... and I felt a PART of that decision! That is important to me!
