About Me
As a family medicine physician, I provide a comprehensive, holistic approach to health care for the entire family. I believe a strong physician-patient relationship founded on compassion is central to providing the highest quality care. I encourage my patients to ask questions and participate in developing their individualized treatment plans. I treat a wide range of conditions, but am especially interested in cardiology, diabetes, gynecologic care, hypertension, preventative medicine and women's health.
I enjoy working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center because of the opportunity to serve my community in the dual role of physician and educator. At Ohio State, we enjoy access to a vast network of resources and educational opportunities to ensure our patients receive quality care for generations to come.
When I'm not working, I enjoy playing tennis, traveling and spending time with my family. My husband and I have two young boys who are active in the community. Most of the time our activities revolve around our kids.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 10/25/2021, Dr. Shanker has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Dr. Shanker is knowledgeable, trustworthy & I would recommend her.
Dr. Shanker is a wonderful PCP.
Dr. Shanker is the best EVER!!!
Thoughtful and pleasant
It is good, acceptable experience.
This was my first visit with my new PCP (my old PCP retired). I really felt comfortable with her. She built rapport by sharing common experiences. Very effective!
She has always been exceptional In reviewing my health history, keeping track of my medicines and discussing my needs and concerns.
Good experience, listened and showed respect for what I say, cleaned the hands, spent enough time, happy with my visit.
She was also very friendly and always takes the time to listen and address and concerns
The experience was good
Very good
She was very helpful and understanding of my needs.
When I described my medical past from before this provider, there was no reaction/interaction, follow up questions about it from my provider. It felt like I was talking to myself.
Pleasant and efficient
Took concern seriously, good listening, repeated concerns back to me and asked questions to make sure I understood what was going on
Dr Shanker is the best. Listens.....asks pertinent questions....very personable and knowledgeable.
The doctor made me feel really comfortable during my appointment. She listened well and took my concerns seriously.
I love my provider! She is extremely helpful and answers all of my questions. She is kind and professional.
This was my first appointment with her. She was very attentive and had a good grasp of my medical history despite us not having any relationship prior to this initial visit. She referred often to the medical records in the system to ensure everything was addressed.
Excellent experience
Dr. Shanker is one of the best doctors I've had. She is knowledgeable, caring, kind, and personable. She doesn't rush me and answers questions thoroughly.
Dr.Shankar is simply the best! She takes her time and makes sure she listens to every concern. she's very relaxed and makes me as a patient feel relaxed too.
Also she was wonderful in helping with my individual needs.
I don't have any bad experience
Very caring. Feel sometimes not as proactive on meds, testing etc.
Dr. Shankar has always been respectful, courteous, informative, and helpful on my visits to her.
She is very thorough and takes the time to listen to all of my concerns.
Dr. Shanker is awesome. No other way to describe her. She is patient, thorough, and always covers all the bases.
Dr. Shanker takes as much timeas needed but is still very efficient. she takes the time to listen, gives advice, and seems to genuinely care.
The provider usually checks my throat and ears but did not do it this time.
again super friendly and caring
she took extra time to make sure she got everything and was the kindest individual.
I felt my check-up was very thorough and helpful. I feel much better about my well being because of her and our conversation.
good
I feel as though the provider did not listen to my concerns, and did not listen to the response I gave her regarding medical concerns. I will be seeking a new PCP
Very professional & very friendly.
Dr. Shankar is the best primary provider I have ever had. She really listens, demonstrates empathy, and it's easy to tell how much she cares about her patients. I'm so fortunate to have a caring and intelligent doctor like her during a pandemic that I can consult with.
Care provider was friendly and attentive, but wait time was rather long (>15 mins).
very good
She is very nice and caring.
Dr Shankar is always pleasant and addresses all questions. She explains tests and treatments.
It was a first visit and I could tell my chart had not been looked at until we were in-person. There was no consultative aspect to the visit, and as my issues are mental health, dictating my prescriptions w/o asking me why/how I got on them to begin with, how long I've been on or even mentioning all of them (only Adderall was discussed) made me leery. I a void meds for 12 years, finally got on them, and have had the most stable 2 years of my life.
good
always very professional and caring
