About Me
I specialize in treating lung diseases and caring for critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units. With over twenty years of experience in clinical medicine, I have gained extensive experience treating conditions leading to inflammation and lung damage. I always take the time to listen to my patients and answer their questions, and they can rely on me to guide them with empathy and compassion.
My clinical care is focused on patients with interstitial lung diseases, especially sarcoidosis, which is a rare but challenging systemic inflammatory disease. It is sometimes called the "snowflake disease" due to the variability in how it affects individuals. It can impact other organs besides the lungs, and often, multiple organs are involved. As co-director of the Sarcoidosis Clinic at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, I help lead a team that prioritizes a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach to care with shared decision-making to improve quality of life for patients with sarcoidosis.
Engaging in academic medicine has allowed me to stay at the forefront of medical advancements while fostering a culture of inquiry and continuous learning. I currently serve as assistant director of Translation Research for the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. Through research and collaboration, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of complex conditions, particularly interstitial lung diseases like sarcoidosis, which directly informs my clinical practice.
I had excellent mentors, and I am proud to pay it forward in my role as a professor of Internal Medicine in The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Serving as an instructor and mentor has further strengthened my ability to communicate complex medical concepts while emphasizing the importance of empathy and individualized care. This dual perspective combining academic rigor with hands-on patient care has refined my approach to multidisciplinary, evidence-based treatment and enhanced my ability to advocate for patients navigating challenging diagnoses. These experiences have reinforced my dedication to advancing both medical knowledge and compassionate patient care.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
