About Me

As a surgeon, I often meet patients and their families at the lowest points of their entire lives, and have the opportunity to have a profound impact on their comfort, well-being and quality of life. I’m committed to establishing meaningful relationships with patients and their families and encouraging them to take part in the decision-making process because I want to provide the best care possible. I specialize in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, including coronary bypass, valve repair and replacement, arrhythmia surgery, and both heart and lung transplantation.

Over the years, I’ve been involved in clinical outcomes research and education. I’ve published more than 40 manuscripts and several book chapters on the topic. In addition, I had the opportunity to present at national and international academic meetings on multiple occasions.

Both my wife and I grew up in Columbus and I attended The Ohio State University for graduate school and medical school. The collegiality and universal commitment to excellence in patient care, research and education makes Ohio State a truly exceptional place.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and following collegiate and professional sports.
