Physician, Assistant Professor
Ophthalmology - Retina, Ophthalmology
Department: Ophthalmology
I am an ophthalmologist who specializes in diagnosing and treating eye diseases with an emphasis on issues that impact the retina. I regularly see adult and adolescent patients for conditions including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, uveitis and retinal detachment, and I perform vitreoretinal surgeries.
My extensive training and hands-on experience in treating a diverse range of retinal diseases and uveitis cases has given me a solid foundation and the skills to tackle the most complex eye cases. I stay updated on the latest advancements to ensure my patients receive the most effective and innovative treatments available. Treating these challenging conditions also often requires collaborative team efforts and I’m proud to work with such exceptional colleagues here at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
I am deeply committed to delivering compassionate, personalized care throughout each patient’s health care journey. I prioritize building strong relationships with my patients and I always take the time to understand their unique needs and concerns.
My experience in academic medicine has profoundly shaped my career path. The mentorship I received inspired me to pursue a career that combines excellent patient care with rigorous academic research. These experiences also fueled my passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of ophthalmologists, ensuring that the knowledge and skills I have gained are passed on. My role includes serving as an assistant professor of Ophthalmology.

Took time to make this a comfortable visit and explained what may happen next if the situation doesn't improve.
He was very business oriented and less personable than the technical staff.
He was the best , caring, kind , concerned, polite
Excellent
Couldn't have a better physician
Pleasant and knowledgeable
Dr. Bergstrom explained my retina scan results well and I enjoyed my visit with him.
He was great & so nice.
Very friendly and answered all my questions and concerns
He refused to believe me on my symptoms and my previous treatment, which has been the same in the last 25 years, and tried to change my treatment.
He was very knowledgeable
Was very though. Knew what was wrong and advised what could help and what else could happen.
From what I had heard prior to seeing Dr. Bergstrom, his reviews were flawless and after seeing him I absolutely agree. He explained everything he saw in the tests and where we were going to go from there. He took the scary situation I was In (where we thought the worst) and gave us relief after weeks of questioning. He was straightforward and blunt but not in a condescending manner which is something I really appreciated. I am following up with him in 2 weeks to discuss treatment and have full confidence that he will be able to help me and my condition. I know I am in good hands with Dr. Bergstrom as my provider and am very grateful that I was able to see and be treated by him.
First time meeting. I liked him
All good
He listened to what l said about being given a different diagnosis previously.
Arrogant, not a good listener, dismissed my knowledge & that of of my Primary optometrist, did not feel necessary to go over scans and Tests insinuating patient would not understand. We waited for Doctor one and 1/2 hours past my appointment time.
Physician experience is the best I have ever encountered as usual. He is patient, kind, through, gentle (injects my eyes) and my overall macular eye degeneration has improved under his care.
Concerned about my visual issues.
Doctor Bergstrom is a very professional knowledgeable, and an eager to provide excellent service.
