Biography

I specialize in comprehensive gastroenterology, which includes diagnosing and treating common diseases involving the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver and pancreas. I regularly care for patients with issues including irritable bowel syndrome, eosinophilic esophagitis, peptic ulcer, abdominal pain and celiac disease. I also perform procedures such as colonoscopy, endoscopy and esophagogastroduodenoscopy.

When patients come to see, they can expect clear communication and can trust that I will take the necessary time to fully understand their history and symptoms. I am passionate about education and empowering my patients to share in the decision-making. Once we reach an accurate diagnosis, my patients and I work together on a disease management plan that may include diet and lifestyle changes, as well as prescriptions and procedural therapies.

I appreciate that The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is committed to patient-centered care that includes close patient-provider interactions, while also providing access to multiple subspeciality experts. This dual approach enhances the care we can offer to our patients.

My research is focused on patient education and safety, and I have contributed to many patient-friendly articles on intestinal diseases. I currently serve on the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) Educational Affairs Committee, and previously was a member of the Patient Care Committee. I have also worked on designing an open access colonoscopy program aimed at reducing health care disparities and improving access to colorectal cancer screenings.

Throughout my career, I have honed my ability to teach safe, evidence-based practices while maintaining a high clinical volume of patients. I have served as a mentor to numerous medical students, internal medicine residents and gastroenterology fellows, with a special emphasis on teaching the importance of emotional intelligence in patient care. My role includes serving as an assistant professor of clinical medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

I enjoy free time with my family and we love traveling. I am an avid runner and enjoy spending time outdoors. I also like watching collegiate and professional football, basketball and baseball.
