About Me
As a hepatologist at Ohio State, I treat patients with abnormal liver tests, hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver and other liver diseases. I am honored to be part of this interesting field and help patients through a potentially stressful part of their lives. I strive to provide very thorough and attentive care with a focus on every patient's individual goals. Establishing a friendly, trusting relationship with my patients is extremely important.
My favorite part about working here at Ohio State is interacting with so many different people. I enjoy helping people to understand their condition and achieve better health.
When I’m not working, I like to spend time with my wife, family and friends. I enjoy running, cross country skiing, music and watching sports of all kinds.

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. Dr Kelly is AMAZING! It was my 1st time seeing him, yet he had read my records THOROUGHLY & walked in the room with so much compassion & concern about my health issues this past year. He even asked if he could hug me & made me feel I was going to be OK!!! It's been an EXTREMELY DIFFICULT YEAR and still have a way to go but he put me TOTALLY AT EASE. He also ordered test to be ran IMMEDIATELY!!!! I wish he could be my Primary Care Provider!!! Words can't describe how awesome he is!

My doctor was incredibly good, perhaps the best I've ever had! He was in tune to my health needs before he walked into the room and had read my chart and understood my situation. He was compassionate and kind and explained that we would get through this situation together and that he would be there to help me through. I felt as though I had known him for years when I walked out the door, although I just met him for the first time.

I have been a patient of Dr Kelly's for years for a serious condition. I have autoimmune hepatitis with resulting cirrhosis of the liver. In an earlier question I was asked if I call the office. Why would I do that? I communicate directly with Dr Kelly all year long on My Chart. I text him every time my medication changes as some may adversely affect my liver. He answers me most generally within hours. I couldn't ask for a better Dr/patient relationship. I hope he never leaves OSU.
I saw the provider for a second opinion. I was so impressed with Dr Kelly and the time and knowledge he spent with me. Went over my test and blood work and explained things so well offering even more information to my condition. Was so happy I drove 3 hours for this second opinion, walked away with peace of mind.

Nothing bad. He was right with me when I told him how scared I was, started to cry and he did also, always knows the information before I see him, always on top of things.
