Biography

It’s an honor and privilege to be trusted by a patient to help protect their vision. At Ohio State University College of Medicine, I serve as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences.

I provide comprehensive eye care, with a focus on the diagnosis and management of ocular conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye, and refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. I also manage and treat ocular emergencies such as eye infections, perform foreign body removals, and coordinate care for patients with eye conditions related to systemic health issues.

I have a particular interest in retinal imaging, such as fundus photography and optical coherence tomography, where we can combine advanced technology with a personalized approach to improving visual function and comfort. It is highly rewarding to be able to help improve a patient’s eyesight or prevent vision loss.

I chose a career in optometry because I’m passionate about improving quality of life through vision. Every patient encounter is an opportunity to preserve or restore one of our most important senses, and I take pride in delivering thorough, compassionate and evidence-based care. My approach combines a strong clinical foundation with attentive listening and patient education to ensure that each patient feels valued and understood.

Consulting and Related Relationships

At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.

As of 11/3/2025, Dr. Njeru has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
