Air Fryer General Tso's Tofu

Items Needed:
Air fryer, cutting board, knife, bowl, small saucepan, large bowl
Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu, drained and pressed
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Optional: sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Directions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375F.
- Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Place the tofu cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tofu is golden and crispy.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer, then add the cornstarch slurry. Cook until the sauce thickens, stirring constantly.
- Once the tofu is done, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the sauce over the tofu and toss to coat evenly. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
