About Me
My patient care philosophy is focused on providing high quality, evidence-based care. This requires taking time to understand each patient’s unique situation, challenges and goals.
My specialty is orthopedic surgery, with a primary focus in hip preservation. I treat all types of hip conditions. My surgical expertise includes hip arthroscopy and hip osteotomies.
The most satisfying aspect of my job is meeting a patient who needs help, creating a personalized treatment plan and following through until full recovery is achieved. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our patients regain the ability to enjoy an active lifestyle.
I enjoy working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center because it offers a warm, collegial environment, with continuous efforts to improve the quality of the care we provide and genuine compassion for those who need help.

Consulting and Related Relationships
At The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, we support a faculty member’s research and consulting in collaboration with medical device, research and/or drug companies because a faculty member’s expertise can guide important advancements in the practice of medicine and improve patient care. In order to provide effective management of these relationships, the University requires annual disclosures from all faculty members with external interests related to their University responsibilities.
As of 09/30/2022, Dr. Ryan has reported no relationships with companies or entities.
Generally good, but I really wanted more academic/empirical evidence used to justify some of his guidance (not that I mistrust the guidance, but because I want to better understand to better implement it), and that didn't seem forthcoming. He wasn't mean or rude or anything about it, but when I was trying to get the relevant evidence/studies/literature it seemed like I was talking past him. I do realize this is a non-standard request.

It was all good with my physical strength exam.

Pay attention and act quickly on small problems instead of waiting until it becomes a crisis and an injury.
Dr Ryan reviewed my MRI with me and was very thorough in explaining the details of what was seen on the MRI. He made sure I had a clear understanding and gave me an opportunity to ask questions about the results. I did not feel rushed and I felt like he was genuinely concerned. He provided a clear understanding of the next steps and options for my treatment plan. Most importantly he was nice and supportive.
