Nikia's Story

The doctors at Ohio State’s Ross Heart Hospital diagnosed Nikia with spontaneous coronary artery dissection – a heart condition so rare her physicians had never seen a patient with it. Nevertheless, Nikia's heart care team had the expertise to repair her heart before it was too late.

"With three rambunctious sons and a busy work schedule, heart health was never at the top of my mind," Nikia says. "This put everything into perspective. Now, my husband and I are looking forward to all the possibilities the future holds for our family. I’m even improving my heart health by participating in Ohio State’s Ross Heart Hospital Wellness Series to honor all the doctors and nurses who took care of me."
