Neuropsychologists

Nguyen_Christopher_724x840Christopher Nguyen, PhD, ABPP, is a licensed psychologist, clinical neuropsychologist, and board certified in geropsychology. He completed his doctorate at the University of Iowa, residency at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, and fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He conducts neuropsychological evaluations with a wide range of patient populations and is particularly interested in dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. He is the primary supervisor in the geropsychology service. His research interests include cognitive aging, decision-making, and cross-cultural considerations in neuropsychology. Robert BornsteinRobert Bornstein, PhD, ABPP-CN, is an Emeritus Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. He completed his training at Western Michigan University and the University of Ottowa Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Bornstein’s keen interest in faculty development led to the creation of the Center for Faculty Advancement, Mentoring and Engagement (FAME) in 2011. Dr. Bornstein served on the Board of Governors, as an Executive Secretary, and was a recipient of the INS Lifetime Achievement in Service Award of the International Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Bornstein currently serves as the concussion consultant for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Columbus Crew.


Boxley_Laura_724x840Laura Boxley, PhD, ABPP-CN, is a licensed psychologist and clinical neuropsychologist. She completed her doctorate at Loma Linda University, residency at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System and fellowship at the University of Michigan/VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System consortium. She conducts neuropsychological evaluations with a wide range of patient populations and has particular expertise in the areas of acquired brain injury, traumatic brain injury and dementia. She leads our service’s education and training programs, as well as several research studies investigating cognitive correlates of medical illness. You can read more about Dr. Boxley here.


Scott LangeneckerScott A. Langenecker, PhD, is a Professor and Vice Chair of Research at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. He completed his training at Marquette University, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and the University of Michigan. Dr. Langenecker's clinical work focuses on the lifespan approach to mood and anxiety disorders, particularly on life transitions (e.g., adolescence to adulthood). His work includes accessing strengths for greater independence, workplace accommodations, and remediation of weaknesses. His research addresses the neurobiological features of mood disorders in relation to onset, course, responsivity to treatment, the likelihood of attrition, the likelihood of recurrence, risk for suicide, the impact of childhood adversity, buffering affects of family cohesion, and risk for disability. Dr. Langenecker also works in task development and revision, including cultural and language adaptations.


Hillary ParkerHillary A. Parker, PhD, ABPP-CN, is a licensed psychologist and board-certified clinical neuropsychologist. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and her clinical psychology residency and clinical neuropsychology fellowship at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with joint fellowship training at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Parker provides neuropsychological evaluations for adults and older adults with cognitive concerns (e.g., memory problems). She has experience serving a wide range of patient populations and has special interests in neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s), traumatic brain injuries, stroke, and cognitive sequalae of general medical conditions.


Christy Trask, PhDChristi Trask, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and clinical neuropsychologist. She completed her doctorate degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and Oklahoma City VAHCS, and fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. She conducts neuropsychological evaluations with a wide range of patient populations and has particular interest in the areas of schizophrenia-spectrum diagnoses, comorbid medical and psychiatric presentations, and neuropsychiatric symptoms.


Postdoctoral Fellows 

photonotavailabledrStephanie McManimen, PhD, is a first-year postdoctoral fellow in neuropsychology. She completed her doctorate at Idaho State University and predoctoral internship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Her research interests include investigating the relationships between risk and resiliency and neuropsychological correlates of suicide.


Predoctoral Intern

photonotavailabledrStacey Brothers, MS, is a pre-doctoral intern in the Neuropsychology/Neuroscience Track. She is completing a doctoral degree at the University of Utah. Her research interests include investigating how executive functioning predicts daily functioning in older adults.


Technicians

The Ohio State Neuropsychology Service also has three exceptional technicians: Cameron Finley, Keisha Law and Judy Nayal. Each technician in our service has completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has been extensively trained by the Neuropsychology faculty to administer and score neuropsychological and psychological measures. Our technicians are also trained to ensure the patient experience is comfortable and minimally stressful.
