Research to better your care
Our mental health experts bring the most innovative treatment methods to your bedside because of the tremendous amount of research and clinical trials in which they participate. We research all aspects of mental and behavioral health from prevention to diagnosis to treatment.
Currently, the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center is leading a series of first-of-its-kind studies to uncover the root causes and risk factors of mental health conditions. The project is called the State of Ohio Adversity and Resilience.

Ohio artist AJ Heckman shares his bipolar diagnosis to bring awareness and reduce stigma around the disease. Learn more about how he uses art to cope in this patient story.
Suicide prevention efforts
Suicide may be a difficult topic to tackle, but honest conversation, education and working with mental health professionals who understand the complex nature of suicidal ideations are key to prevention or recovery from a suicide attempt.
At Ohio State, we view preventing suicide as a hospital-wide effort in which every physician, nurse, therapist and provider plays a vital role.
Community outreach
An estimated one in four adults in central Ohio experience a mental health condition at some point in their lives. Because Ohio State is an integral part of that community, our commitment to mental health extends well beyond the walls of our practices through our community outreach.
We’ve partnered with area schools, nonprofits and public health entities to bring about lasting change and help people live healthier, happier lives.
