Ohio State opens Post-COVID Recovery Program for COVID-19

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center has established the Post-COVID Recovery Program to help manage care for patients who continue to experience effects of COVID-19 longer than three months after a positive diagnosis of the disease.

Many people with COVID-19 become what some call “long-haulers,” with long-term symptoms that unofficially have been called “post-COVID-19 syndrome.” The symptoms may include:

  • Fatigue
  • Muscle and body ache
  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
  • Persistent cough
  • Confusion/brain fog
  • Loss of taste and smell

Ohio State has gathered physicians and other health care professionals in numerous specialties to evaluate these patients and develop individualized strategies to address long-term effects and improve quality of life for those with long-term symptoms.

The specialties represented in the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center’s Post-COVID Recovery Program include:

  • Pulmonology
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Cardiology
  • Neurology
  • Rheumatology
  • Physical and occupational therapy
  • Sleep medicine
  • Psychiatry

How to refer patients

The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center’s Post-COVID Recovery Program is led by primary care which is the point of entry for all patients.
