About Me
I specialize in cognitive disorders and dementias, including Alzheimer's disease.
The care I provide takes into account that every patient is unique. They come with different talents, varied experiences and diverse environmental and family circumstances.
After a thorough evaluation, I can determine the diagnosis and create a personalized care plan for the patient’s specific medical needs.
Every patient and family deserves to be informed and educated on their medical issues and potential research opportunities. Patients at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center benefit from new discoveries and scientific advances as we strive to provide you with the best possible care.

Dr. Scharre should be the role model for every med student. He listens, cares, and works with the patient.
For all these years, our gratitude for the care, expertise, and support that Dr. Scharre provides is without measure. Given the nature of his specialty, we know that so much can hinge on the very specific insight into the individual patient that informs the doctor's care, and so we feel that we could not be in better hands than with Dr. Scharre, who is always totally attuned. How lucky we are, and how we credit this care in making such a difference in coping with and even abating, the progression of the disease. Making the quality of life the best it can be under the circumstances. And providing superb support for loved ones/care givers, with strategies and guidance, and realistic expectations that are strengthening and comforting. And he has a wonderful sense of humor and cheerfulness (in total appropriateness) that helps with grounding and keeping perspective. Simply wonderful, always.

No bad experiences by physician and all the staff, from beginning to end of my appointment!!
Dr. Scharre is amazing
The provider is very good. While the patient was being tested the doctor talks with the caregiver to get a "picture' of what is happening with the patient. There is a rushed feeling because he usually is running late. He listens quite well to the conversations.
I was attended to quickly, by professional and enjoyable persons and I felt heard and appropriately listened too.
I can't imagine a better doctor, great bedside manner, clearly an expert
