Women often seek help for menopausal effects from changing hormones as menstruation stops. Menopause is defined as one year of no periods, but may also occur if your ovaries are removed surgically or with certain medications. Some women will have symptoms of menopause before their periods stop, this time is referred to as the perimenopausal period.

Every woman has her own perimenopause and menopause experience, and may face related issues, such as hot flashes, night sweats, difficulty sleeping, bladder control problems and joint and muscle pain.

Your treatment may include:

  • Counseling on what to expect during menopause

  • Symptom management with guidance on behavioral changes or medications such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT)

  • Pelvic floor muscle relaxation

  • Laboratory and diagnostic testing to rule out other causes for your symptoms

A common question: My sexual health seems to be changing as I get older. Is this something I just need to deal with?

Sexual health can be influenced by age, usually around menopause. With the appropriate medications and therapy, we can help you get your sexual health back to where it feels right for you.
