Immediate Support Services/Basic Needs

Employee Resource Center 

The Employee Resource Center (ERC) provides faculty and staff with a safe and confidential way to work directly with a dedicated, full-time social worker to make connections to community resources such as food, shelter and childcare. The center can also assist with urgent food and hygiene needs. Employees can seek the help of the ERC on their own, or a manager or colleague can refer an employee in need to the ERC.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Ohio State Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offers tools and resources to help address complex issues that can be affecting your mental and emotional well-being. Services including online counseling sessions via video, phone, text or chat. For more information program and services, call 1-800-678-6265 (24 hours/day) or email eap@osumc.edu.

Provides training on a 5- to 10-minute evidence-based debriefing process to promote colleagues’ safe and healthy transition from work to home after their shift.

Identity Theft Protection & Recovery

Complimentary phone consultation with a Fraud Resolution Specialist to assist with restoring identity and credit standing and free Identity Theft monitoring 

Adult/Elder/Caregiver Consultation Services

Resources include consultation on caregiving, insurance, and end-of-life decisions, referrals for in-home care, assisted living, skilled nursing care, and more 

Stress, Trauma and Resilience (STAR) Support Line

The Stress, Trauma and Resilience (STAR) team is currently available to provide personal, confidential, one-on-one phone support at 614-293-STAR (7827); a member of the STAR team will respond to all calls within 24 hours. For 24/7 Immediate support, please page 37827 (3-STAR) in WebXchange.

GME Peer Support Services for Residents and Fellows

The Ohio State Psychiatry Residency Program and the Stress, Trauma and Resilience (STAR) Program are available to provide confidential, one-on-one, live support services to Residents and Fellows. Spiritual Services: In-House and Telephone Support

There are chaplains in the building who can be paged 24/7 for staff support. We can also talk to you directly if you prefer to call us.

Call our direct "Call a Chaplain 24/7 Staff Support Line” for any staff support needs at 614-688-4196. Any medical center employee can call it; it is staffed 24/7 by an in-house chaplain. The chaplain can provide in-person support or, if needed, support over the phone.

This Call a Chaplain 24/7 Staff Support Phone Line is not meant for patient/family spiritual or emotional support requests. Please use the duty chaplain pagers for urgent or time-sensitive patient/family referrals requests: Page 2500 for The James, 1500 for all UH hospitals, and 1200 for East. See the Department of Chaplaincy One Source Website "Contact Us" and “Meet Our Team” sections on the left side navigation column for all options to contact us for patient/family referrals/requests.

STAR B.E.S.T Peer to Peer support program

The STAR Brief Emotional Support Team (BEST) program introduces evidence-based techniques that equip professionals to respond effectively in a crisis while also engaging in skills that build resilience to cope with chronic exposure to stress. This peer-support model creates a culture of compassion and helps staff learn how to care for each other in the demanding, difficult, harrowing and crucial work that we do each day.
