The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center physicians, advanced practice providers and physical therapists work collaboratively to develop best clinical practices for postsurgical rehabilitation. The path to regaining range of motion, strength and function can require a sustained and coordinated effort from the patient, his or her family, the Ohio State Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy Spine Team and sometimes other health care providers. While each individual’s progress differs based on their age, health, rehab compliance and injury severity, our team has established time frames, precautions and progression criteria that help ensure a safe return to activity.
These care protocols provide a synopsis of guidelines for individuals recovering from spine surgery with Ohio State Orthopedic Spine or Neurosurgery. They are provided as an educational resource, are not intended to replace the advice of a medical professional, are the property of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and should not be copied or otherwise used without express written permission.
