This short course will cover multi-disciplinary translational research foundational training and is geared towards trainees and junior faculty. All are welcome to attend. Registration will be capped at 75.
We will have experts speak on topics including:
- Building a Clinical Database
- Common Statistical Pitfalls
- FDA approvals/Clinicaltrials.gov
- IRB 101
- Secondary Data Research
- Tech Transfer

2024 Neuroscience Research Institute (NRI) Annual Retreat

Registration is now open for the 2024 Neuroscience Research Institute (NRI) Annual Retreat! This free event will be held on November 15, 2024 at the Fawcett Center.
The goal is to highlight neuroscience research across Ohio State and to foster internal collaborations. The keynote speaker will be Alison Goate, DPhil, Chair, Departments of Genetics & Genomic Sciences and Professor, Departments of Neuroscience & Neurology, at Mount Sinai. She is also faculty of the Icahn Genomics Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She has worked on the genetics of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) since 1987, and is the founding director of the Ronald M. Loeb Center for Alzheimer’s Disease at Mount Sinai.
This year’s program will also include two poster sessions selected from submitted abstracts (including a category for undergraduates), plenary sessions, trainee flash talks (chosen from abstracts), and lunchtime networking. A reception will be held at the end of the day approximately from 5:00p.m.-6:00p.m.

This year’s program on October 27 will also include two poster sessions selected from submitted abstracts (including a category for undergraduates), plenary sessions, trainee flash talks (chosen from abstracts), and lunchtime networking.
New to this year’s event is a Translational Neuroscience Short Course on October 26, which provides multi-disciplinary translational research foundational training. All are welcome to attend, however the short course is geared towards trainees and junior faculty. We will have experts from various areas speak on topics including:

- Biospecimen/Biomarker Research

Join Us for the Neuroscience Research Institute Annual Retreat
Registration for the 2022 NRI Annual Retreat on Nov. 4 at the Fawcett Center is now open. The goal of the retreat is to highlight advances in neuroscience research across Ohio State and to foster internal collaborations. Agenda details, including announcement of the keynote speaker, will be forthcoming.
This year’s program will also include two poster sessions (including a category for undergraduates), plenary sessions, flash talks (chosen from abstracts) and lunchtime breakout sessions. The reception will be at the end of the day, approximately 5-6 p.m.
There’s no fee to attend but you must register.

Peripheral neuroimmune interactions in health and disease
Join us for the 2023 NRI Neuroimmunology Symposium - Peripheral Neuroimmune Interactions in Health and Disease. This event will be held from 8:00am - 6:30pm on Friday, June 23 at the Blackwell Inn & Pfahl Conference Center. This will be a 1-day event and sessions will include topics about neuronal control of barrier immunity; bi-directional cross-talk between the enteric nervous system and immune systems; and cancer, immunosurveillance & neuropathy. Confirmed external speakers include Ulrich von Andrian (MIT & Harvard University, Plenary Speaker), Isaac Chiu (Harvard University), Sebastian Talbot (Queen’s University), and Grace Shin (Columbia University).
We are excited to host this symposium and bring researchers across the country together to share cutting-edge approaches and recent developments within the field of neuroimmunology as well as to highlight neuroimmunology research at Ohio State.

We invite you to attend the 2022 NRI Neuroimaging Symposium on October 28 – 29, 2022. This year’s event will be held at the Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center (2110 Tuttle Park Place, Columbus, OH 43210).
Topics highlighted during the event will include neuroimaging and artificial intelligence in neurodegeneration and vascular diseases as well as ocular imaging in neurological diagnosis and management.
