You may be a candidate for Inpatient Rehabilitation if your recovery from injury or illness involves:
- Close medical supervision by a physician with specialized training or experience in rehabilitation
- Immediate access to consulting specialists, diagnostic testing, or life support services
- Multidisciplinary team approach to care, providing comprehensive rehabilitation interventions
- Participation with at least two of the following services: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, and/or orthotics/prosthetics
- Intense level of rehabilitation -- typically 3 or more hours of therapy services, at least 5 days/week
- Significant practical improvement is expected with participation in intensive therapies
- Potential for discharge into the community after rehabilitation
A multidisciplinary team approach to care may include interventions to address difficulties or challenges with things, such as:
- Mobility
- Self-care
- Activities of daily living
- Independent living skills
- Bowel and bladder management
- Swallowing
- Communication
- Cognition
- Behavior
- Wheelchair management
- Adjustment to disability
In addition, you and your family or support system demonstrate willingness to:
- Participate in the inpatient rehabilitation treatment plan of care
- Agree to abide by the policies and procedures of The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center’s Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital
- Be involved in goal-setting, ongoing treatment, modification of the treatment plan and follow-up care at all levels
The Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital Services admissions team will review and evaluate your medical, clinical and psychosocial status to ensure you meet the requirements for successful rehabilitation. Length of stay is based on functional and medical goals and may vary depending on each individual's rehabilitation program.
We will work with you and your insurance to determine your eligibility for inpatient rehabilitation benefits.
