Inpatient rehabilitation outcomes
Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital is recognized nationally for its excellence in inpatient rehabilitation services.
In 2025, Dodd Hospital treated 1,119* people across a wide range of conditions. This included 233 patients recovering from strokes, 219 with brain injuries, 128 with spinal cord injuries, 87 undergoing neurological rehabilitation, 188 with cancer, 45 patients with amputations, 63 individuals with multiple traumas and 344 receiving general rehabilitation care.
About 62% of people we treated were male and 38% were female, and the average length of stay across all conditions and programs was 13 days. People flourish in our rehabilitation programs, with 77.4% of patients discharged to their home after leaving Dodd – 94.3% of all patients were in their own homes within 90 days of hospital discharge.

Outpatient rehabilitation outcomes
We bring the same quality and compassion of our inpatient care to our outpatient rehabilitation programs.
Our expert physiatrists and therapists offer these services at locations throughout central Ohio. In 2025, we treated 188,228 patients in outpatient rehabilitation. This included 670 stroke patients, 295 brain injury patients, 407 Parkinson’s disease patients, 407 concussion patients, 1,182 vestibular patients, 205 spinal cord injury patients, 107 multiple sclerosis patients, 58 amputee patients, 104 post-Covid patients, 97 cerebral palsy patients, 90 neurological disorder patients and 60 cancer patients.
On average, each of these patients had and average of 6 therapy appointments with one of our expert providers, demonstrating just how effective our outpatient services can be.

CARF has repeatedly recognized the medical center, Dodd Hospital and our rehabilitation experts for meeting the highest standards in quality, safety and outcome measures, which provide risk reduction and accountability in our care.
Ohio State’s program is distinguished as:
- One of only three inpatient rehabilitation facilities in Ohio holding CARF Specialty Program certification for both brain injury and spinal cord injury specialty programs
- First in Ohio, second in the nation, third in the world to be awarded CARF accreditation for our inpatient cancer rehabilitation program
- First in Ohio and third in the country to be awarded CARF accreditation for our inpatient stroke program
- First accredited brain injury program in the state
