About our multidisciplinary and subspecialty clinics

A core mission of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Department of Neurology is to deliver expert diagnostic services and personalized, whole-person care for people with neurological disorders – at a level of sophistication typically found only at leading academic medical centers. To support this mission, our department has developed a robust network of 32 multidisciplinary and subspecialty clinics, adding two to three new specialty clinics each year.

Each clinic is anchored by a neurologist with deep expertise in a highly specific condition and is further strengthened by integrated collaboration with other medical specialists. Depending on patient needs, clinics may include rheumatologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and electrophysiologists. Our multidisciplinary model also brings together physical, occupational and speech therapists; dietitians; pharmacists; neuropsychologists and psychologists; genetic counselors; respiratory therapists and social workers. This team-based approach ensures seamless communication across providers and delivers truly individualized care centered on the patient.

Patient feedback underscores the impact of this model. Post-clinic surveys show that 94% of patients report benefiting from participation in our multidisciplinary and subspecialty clinics, with more than 80% indicating an improvement in the quality of their care. Additionally, 94% of patients would recommend these clinics to others with similar conditions – affirming the value of our collaborative, patient-focused approach.
