A critical mission of the Neurology department at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center is to provide highly skilled diagnostic services and personalized, comprehensive care for neurological disorders, at a level of expertise typically only available at academic tertiary medical centers. The following list of clinics were developed to support those living with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disease, and their caregivers.
Goal: To further define and manage a range of challenging symptoms associated with Huntington’s disease.
Our clinic is supported by a multidisciplinary team of Huntington’s disease experts, including a neurologist; genetics counselor; nurse coordinator; social worker; physical, occupational and speech therapists; dietitian; and neuropsychologists. Ohio State is a Huntington Study Group—credentialed research site, and the Clinic team is supported by an active clinical trial group effort offering opportunities to participate in observational and interventional research trials.
Lead Physician: Sandra Kostyk, MD, PhD
Goal: To evaluate, manage and treat a wide range of neurodegenerative conditions associated with cognitive impairment and/or behavioral decline in individuals under 65 years of age.
The clinic is supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising a cognitive physician, nurse practitioners, a genetic counselor and a social worker. The cognitive physician helps to evaluate the patient and explain the diagnosis, our genetic counselor explores genetic components of disease, our nurse practitioners help with caregiver needs and our social worker helps with advanced care planning needs. Our team ensures that each patient and their caregivers receive high-quality care to help them navigate the diagnosis of dementia.
