Neurology 101: Neurology for the frontline clinician

This CME-accredited symposium is designed for clinicians from non-neurology specialties seeking to broaden their understanding of essential neurology topics. The program will cover foundational diagnostic principles and clinical management strategies for prevalent neurological symptoms and conditions, including dizziness, memory disorders, headache, numbness/neuropathy, seizures, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. Attendees will gain practical knowledge to enhance patient care and collaboration across specialties.

This hybrid conference is a one-of-a-kind learning experience tailored to make neurology pharmacology easy to comprehend and apply to daily practice. This year, APP experts will provide pharmacologic updates on epilepsy, psychiatric conditions, movement disorders, migraine, and multiple sclerosis. Our keynote speaker, Susan Yeager, DNP, CCRN, ACNP-BC, FNCS is president of The Neurocritical Care Society and will provide a pharmacologic update on neurological emergencies. Lunch is provided for those who attend in person.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Department of Neurology is proud to offer its Symposium on Improving Access, Bridging Gaps, and Building Connections. This symposium will take place Friday, May 2 from 8am – 5pm at the Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center (2110 Tuttle Park Place, Columbus, Ohio 43210).
The goal of this symposium is to bring awareness to challenges to advancement in underrepresented groups in medicine, provide career development guidance to trainees, and foster collaboration and mentorship.
Presentation topics include:
- Health disparities in epilepsy, stroke, headache, and MS
- Global neurology
- Gaps in neurologic care in Ohio
- Local disparities in health outcomes and clinical research
This CME-accredited symposium will provide information on latest diagnostic guidelines and clinical management approaches for a range of common neurological diseases and conditions, including memory disorders, headache, neuromuscular disorders, stroke, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. Each talk will be given by a nationally recognized specialist in the field. A panel of experts will review ongoing and emerging clinical trials and studies of novel disease modifying agents. This event offers both virtual and in-person attendance.
The Ohio State University Center for Continuing Medical Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Department of Neurology is proud to offer the 3rd annual symposium for advanced practice providers (APP) – Neurology Pharmacology Made Simple. This symposium is free to Ohio State faculty, staff and students, and will take place Friday, May 17, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Attendees will be able to either attend in-person at the Fawcett Center or virtually.
Our keynote speaker, Shannon Anderson, MPAS, PA-C, from Oregon Health & Science University, will speak on the management of Parkinson’s disease. Additional sessions will be led by advanced practice providers and will address strategies, guidelines and pharmacologic advancements to help manage some of the most common neurological topics seen in primary care and specialty clinics.
