Cardiopulmonary Neuromuscular Disease Clinic

  • Clinic focus: Provide comprehensive and multisystem care for patients with neuromuscular disease, with a focus on individuals with muscular dystrophies that can have potential cardiac and pulmonary involvement.
  • National organizations and affiliations: Recognized as a Muscular Dystrophy Association Care Center

Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy Clinic

  • Clinic focus: Improve quality of life and expand research efforts for patients diagnosed with a peripheral neuropathy secondary to a chemotherapeutic agent through a multidisciplinary clinical approach.
  • Research: The clinic is involved in several research efforts with the ultimate goal of understanding the pathogenesis of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy to provide better treatment and prevention techniques.

Co-Lead Physician: Matthew Burford, MD
Co-Lead Physician: Michael Isfort, MD
Additional providers in this clinic: Caitlin Parks, PharmD, Andrea Jaworek, PT, Katie Jira, PT, Nicole Cline, RN, Alison Potter, RN, Nicole Benameur, APRN-CNP

Immune-mediated Neuropathies Clinic

  • Clinic focus: Provide comprehensive care and treatment plans to patients with all forms of immune-mediated peripheral neuropathies, including chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP), Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), multifocal motor neuropathy, anti-myelin-associated glycoprotein neuropathy and vasculitic neuropathy.
  • National organizations and affiliations: GBS/CIDP Foundation International Center of Excellence
  • Research: Investigating the immunological underpinnings of GBS and CIDP, as well as immunological and electrophysiological predictors of treatment response in CIDP, while participating in natural history studies in anti-MAG neuropathy. Actively involved in observational and interventional clinical trials evaluating emerging immunomodulatory and complement-targeted therapies for CIDP, MMN and related immune-mediated neuropathies.

Myasthenia Gravis Clinic

  • Clinic focus: Evaluate and treat patients with myasthenia gravis and other diseases affecting the neuromuscular junction, such as Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome (LEMS) and hereditary myasthenic syndromes.
  • Research: Active participation in clinical trials that have contributed to the approval of multiple targeted therapies for myasthenia gravis. Ongoing studies to evaluate emerging treatments for myasthenia gravis including complement inhibitors in acute settings, new complement inhibitors, multiple drug therapy for refractory patients, new B-cell inhibitors, and novel immune-based approaches such as CAR T-cell strategies and tolerization. In addition, we’re actively participating in novel therapies to treat some congenital myasthenic syndromes as well as LEMS.
