The Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute is the Midwest’s largest and most advanced sports medicine facility. Conveniently located just off State Route 315 at the Ackerman Road exit, it is the home of innovation and discovery in helping people improve their athletic performance, recover from injury and prevent future injuries. The 116,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art complex integrates research, teaching, clinical care and performance training under one roof.
Our research is focused on learning what causes athletic injuries, developing preventive interventions and enhancing how we get patients back to an active lifestyle. For instance, the work in our Motion Analysis and Performance Lab is a collaborative effort between engineers, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physicians and coaches to measure how athletes move. The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Surgical Skills Lab, opening in 2019, will provide a controlled environment for evaluating the latest products, advancing technical skills outside of the operating room and exploring innovative new procedures.
